While in high school, I was inspired to become a journalist by my English teacher, May (Ma) Carpenter, and worked on the Centurion with some really cool classmates. Then it was on to Santa Monica College and I was a reporter for the Corsair and caused quite a stir when I wrote a story about the art class and its nude models. At Cal State Northridge (San Fernando Valley State College at the time), I became a reporter and news editor of the Daily Sundial and news director of the college radio stations.
